How to Play DivX VOD Beyond your PC

What You Need to Get Started

1. Create a DivX User Account

You will first need to create a DivX User Account via the DivX Player for Windows. If you don’t already have the DivX Player, you can download it here.

Once you have the DivX Player for Windows installed, open the DivX Player, go to the Tools menu, then select User Account. If you already have an account, just enter your username and password. If you don’t have an account yet, click the Create Account button and fill in the required fields. Make sure you use a valid email address as the system will require that you respond to an email before your new account will be activated.

2. Activate your DivX certified device

Next, you will need to activate your DivX certified device to play back DivX VOD. To activate your device, you will first need to retrieve the 8 character DivX VOD registration code from your DivX certified device. Typically this code can be found in your device’s setup menu, but if you cannot locate it, feel free to contact DivX Support for help. Once you have retrieved this code, write it down in a secure place.

Now that you have the 8 character DivX VOD registration code from your device, return to the DivX Player application to download your activation file. To do this, open the DivX Player and go to the Tools menu, then Device Manager and then click the Register Device button on the Device Manager window. You will be prompted to select the brand of your device from a drop down menu. After selecting the brand of your device, enter the 8 character DivX VOD registration code from your device in the field that is labeled “Activation ID”. You will also be asked to enter a name for your device. This is a personal preference so anything can be entered.

After entering a name for your device, click Next and you will be presented with the option to burn the file to a disc or save the file to a location on your computer. If your DivX certified device does not accept CD or DVD discs (i.e. it plays movies from a hard drive or memory card), then you should choose to save the activation file to your local computer so that it can be copied to the device. If your model of DivX certified device does accept discs, select the option to burn the file to disc; then insert the freshly-burned disc into your device.

Once you have the activation file on your device, just press play. You should see a DivX logo with a confirmation screen indicating that your device has been successfully activated.

3. Sit back and enjoy

That’s it! You’re now ready to play DivX VOD titles on your DivX certified device.

*Note: If you already own free DivX files, you can play them on your device without activation. This process is only necessary for users who wish to play purchased or rented DivX VOD titles.
